Joyful, playful, loving, peaceful, daughter, niece, sister, mother, aunt and friend. These are only some of the words that describe her. Who is this wonderful person who never had an enemy in the world? Denise "Nise" Michelle Phillips. She was born on June 17, 1961 in Little Rock, Ark. to Frances and William Phillips. At the age of 23 years, on March 14, 1983 Denise bore a son, Keith Maurice Phillips. She enjoyed being a mother to her son and always found time to take care of others. In 1987, Denise graduated from the Millett Learning Center. Denise was always a behind the scenes individual, you may start an activity, but she always made sure everything was in place and complete. Her hobbies included, but were not limited to, cooking, organizing, child care, crafts, "walking" and just being an all around people person. Knowing Denise was also knowing her two favorite sayings, "I'm grown", and "Shut up".
At an early age, Denise began her relationship with Christ. She was a well-loved member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Johnie F. Edwards, Sr. While attending Mt. Moriah, she was an active member of the Hospitality Committee and she loved singing in the choir.
Surviving her loving memory is her son, Keith M. Phillips; mother, Frances Davis; father, William Phillips, Jr.; step-father, Lavell Davis, Jr.; grandfather, William Phillips, Sr.; four brothers, Keith D. (Evette), Ivan E., W. Tyrone and Fred L. Davis; two sisters, Anita L. Johnson and Monique A. Lawrence; nieces and nephews, DaMarcus, Nicholas, Ashley P., Ashley C., Kimeya, Brittany, Keith (KC), Tyrone, Jordan, Angela, Deshae', Darius, Haylei; aunt, Wanda (Earl) J. Flowers; a god-brother, Norman Robinson; many other relatives and loved ones left behind.
Preceding her in death, her grandparents, James and Beatrice Jones, her grandmother, Estelle Phillips and cousin, Eric Flowers. Denise's life will forever be a fingerprint on all the hearts of those she has touched. Once you met her, you would never forget her. Denise's life will be missed and cherished by many. A very special thank you to the Emergency and Security Staff of Covenant Medical Center Cooper.
