Rev. Jeanette McGlinchey Burton, 95, of Largo, FL died on September 16, 2020. Born in Lewiston, Maine, to Joseph and Lucille Gendron, she was predeceased by her sisters Lorraine Casavant and Marie T. Gendron and brother Joseph E. Gendron.

Rev. McGlinchey Burton was ordained as one of the first female United Methodist Pastors in the Southern New England Methodist Church conference in 1957. She served churches in Windsorville and North Grosvenordale, CT and Southwick, Waltham, and Falmouth, MA. A pioneer in her field, she mentored many other women in ministry. She continued to minister to others in her retirement home at Lake House Assisted Living in Largo, FL until her death.

She was predeceased by her first husband, James D. McGlinchey, and her second, Rev. Richard W. Burton. She and Richard enjoyed many happy retirement years serving as volunteers at Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, ME.

Rev. Burton is survived by her daughters Sharyn Hay of Fontana, CA and Carol McGlinchey of Great Barrington, MA and grandchildren Scott (Sharon Curley) Hay of Michigan, Lisa (Jeff) Ludington of California and Sarah McGlinchey Belitz (Bharath) Pentyala of Maryland. In addition she has a great-grandson Andrew Hay of Missouri, and great-great granddaughter Adain Hay and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church 1199 Highland Ave. in Largo, FL .
