Edwin H. Knight
Edwin Hobert (Bert) Knight, an elder of St Giles Presbyterian Church, Ottawa, died in hospital, Wednesday, July 11 after a short illness at the age of 71. He resided at 22 Holmwood Ave. Born in Bowmanville, Ont, he was a son of the late William Richard Knight and Kezia Williams. He was educated at Bowmanville and Belleville. In 1917 he married Etta A. Young at Almonte. He was a member of the Mississippi Lodge A.F. & A.M., Almonte, and a charter member of the Almonte Peters Point Fishing Club. He was for many years in the hardware business in Almonte. Recently, he had been employed with the McColl-Frontenac Oil Company. In addition to his wife, Mr Knight leaves two daughters, Mrs A.E. (Helen) Graham, of Metz, France, and Mrs E.C. (Mary) Rowe of Ottawa; one brother, E.J. Knight of Ottawa, and four grandchidren. The funeral was held from Hulse and Playfair Ltd, Ottawa, where Rev Dr J. Logan-Vencta conducted the service. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte, on Saturday, July 13.
