Polly Jo Quillen Collins, age 79, of Mt. Carmel, passed away peacefully at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN on Thursday, May 4, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Christopher and Ollie Quillen. She had proudly served as a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Kingsport and had attended Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. She was a retiree of the Hawkins County School System where she had served as secretary of Mt. Carmel School for 32 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Randy Lee and Ronnie Christopher Collins; 4 brothers, Buford, Hiram, Doyle and Paul Quillen; and 5 sisters, Wanetta Quillen, Beulah Quillen, Elwanda Carter, Violet Goins and Frances Quillen.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of 58 years, Earnest Collins; sister, Jean Robinette; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Graveside services will be private with Rev. Jack Edwards officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home, Greeneville, TN or to the American Heart Association in memory of Randy and Ronnie Collins.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bristol Memorial Hospital 5th floor and Wellmont Hospice House for the loving care and support they showed for Polly during her time of declining health.
