Carol “Susie” Jenkins Gold, passed away peacefully on Thursday October, 29, 2020 at home surrounded by her grandchildren and family.
She was born in Monett, Mo. On July 16, 1951 to George & Mary Lou (Boicourt) Jenkins. Susie grew up in Brown Springs, Mo. where she attended Clever High School in Clever, Mo. She graduated in the class of 1969.
Susie married Ronald Gold on November 13, 1969. They lived in Billings, Mo. for 46 years. She was a housewife and worked at Elfindale Manor Care, Springfield, Mo. She retired in 2011. She was an active member of the Billings Methodist Church in Billings, Mo.
Susie is survived by her husband Ronald Gold and her two daughters; Carrie Moss and Phil Moss (spouse). Chanda Zahner and Ronald Zahner (spouse). She has 6 grandchildren; Kayla Pilkinton, Danielle Zahner-Conklin with (spouse) Ryan Conklin, Kirstin Pilkinton, Jeri Gold with (fiancé) Denver Mullins, Kimmy Zahner, and Nathan Gold, also, her beloved Kallie Mae. She was also expecting her first great grandchild in November, 2020. Her sister is Nancy Wylie with her (husband) John. Her brother is Jerry Jenkins with his (wife) Penny. She was proceeded in death by her parents George and Mary Lou (Boicourt) Jenkins, and her son Lance Gold.
Susie enjoyed her passion for sewing. She attended many classes to continue her knowledge of her favorite hobby. She also enjoyed assisting in teaching whenever she could. She had many friends that she enjoyed sewing and spending time with. “Angels” were something that she specially crafted every year to give to family and friends.
She loved to travel with her husband Ron. She went on multiple vacations and adventures with Family & Friends over the years. She loved exploring the mountains & valleys of Colorado. Throughout her life she enjoyed activities such as off-road motorcycles, ATV’s, Jeeping, Road bikes, & UTV’s with family & friends, exploring the country throughout the U.S. She was so excited to finally see a bear!
The grandchildren’s fondest memories include grandma making their favorite meals, and staying up all hours of the night playing board games. No matter the distance or their plans, she always made sure that she was there for every sporting event that any grandchild had. Countless proms and special events were attended with the biggest smile that you would ever see on her face. Babysitting the grandchildren was something held closely to her heart, and especially the Friday nights with her grandbabies.
She will be greatly remembered for her famous desserts which included; butterscotch brownies, chocolate pie, peanut butter chocolate pie, and oatmeal muffins were the family favorites. She was famous for her peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Every holiday, it was highly expected of her to have her unforgettable pink stuff, as the grandchildren called it.
Susie wanted her grandchildren to always have a piece of her. She dedicated 20 years of her life making beautifully crafted quilts for every individual grandchild. They were all customized to fit the personality of each grandchild.
Name tags were made at every Christmas for each of the grandchildren and her children. Susie was one of the strongest grandmas around. She would do anything for her family, and she never gave up on them or herself. She was a fighter, strong at heart, and will never be forgotten.
We would like to thank any family and friends that have supported us at this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations be made to Siteman Cancer Center for Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, in Susie's memory.
