Services for Lawrence R. Messmore, 91, Olathe, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Quisenberry Chapel in Tonganoxie with Fred Leimkuhler officiating. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie.
Mr. Messmore died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Center in Olathe.
He was born April 10, 1899, in Hamlin. He was a retired carpenter at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Seattle.
Mr. Messmore served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of the Tonganoxie Friends Church and the VFW in Issaquah, Wash.
He married Aileen Davis in 1923 in Tonganoxie. She died Nov. 15, 1964.

Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Himpel, Overland Park; a sister, Ellender Roberts, Topeka; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
