Dr. Alfred S. Allen: Vicksburg, Miss., Feb. 4, 1858. He was a native of New Jersey, emigrating in 1837 to Texas, where he served for a time as surgeon in the army in the Indian Wars. He was mayor of Vicksburg at the time of his death.
