Randy lost his battle with cancer at the Toni & Trish House in Auburn on Thursday morning August 3, 2017. In 1993 he met the love of his life and best friend Holly Phillips (Hankish) whom he married on July 11, 2003.

Randy was predeceased by his parents Walter and Edna (Leinberger) Schroeder as well as his step-daughter; Tiffani Phillips.

Surviving besideshis wife Holly are his parents in-law; Robert and Vera Hankish and
Shirley Rutherford, his brother; in-laws; Robert (Jennifer) Hankish, Tracy Hankish (Kristine Kennedy), Tim (Sheri) Hankish, Joe (Tanya) Hankish, Mike Hankish (Christine Rutzen), William Hankish, Warren Hankish, (Stephanie Lynn) and a sister in-law; Tammy (Scott) Richards. Also surviving are a very special friend; John Duranczyk and Randy and Holly’s fur baby Nitro along with many cousins and his aunt Norma Hoeppner.

Randy was a man of many talents, but was known for his “expertise” as a machinist. He enjoyed working on his “67” El Camino, in the past few months some very special friends worked on it so he could hear it run, sadly that never happened. His dream will be accomplished one day. He was an avid fan of NHRA drag racing and enjoyed working in his machine shop making pool cues, playing pool and golfing. Whatever Randy did, his desire for perfectionism went into it. Holly would like to thank the staff of 3 East (Oncology) at McLaren Bay Region for their compassion and care during Randy’s stays there, as well as the staff at Toni & Trish House (Auburn) for the care and comfort he received during Randy’s last two days.

Funeral and committal services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday August 7, 2017 at Auburn United Methodist Church (Auburn Rd. and Elm St.) Auburn. Rev. Duane M. Harris will officiate with cremation to follow after the service.

Randy’s family will receive friends at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Sunday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. On Monday morning Randy will lie in state at the Church 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
