William Harold Buchanan

May 20, 1932 - November 23, 2020

William Harold Buchanan, age 88, of Kenton, TN, passed away from this world to be with his Lord on November 23, 2020, at Union City Baptist Memorial Hospital. Harold was born in Mason Hall, Tennessee on May 20, 1932, the son of J.W. and Thelma Caudel Buchanan. Harold married Sue Timbes Buchanan on December 31, 1950. They had resided in the Mason Hall community almost 70 years.

Harold retired from the Tennessee Departmment of Transportation in 1997 as a highway foreman. Prior to that he was employed at Brown Shoe Company in Kenton for 15 years. Harold enlisted in the Army in 1955 and served two years while stationed in Germany. Harold was a sixty-one year Masonic member of Pearl Lodge #200 and also a member of Mason Hall Chapter #395 Order of Eastern Star. As a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church, he was song leader for many years.

Harold is survived by three daughters, Kay (Dennis) Cooper of Mason Hall; Jill (Tony) Smith of Newbern; and Jan (Keith) Cardwell of Kenton. "Daddy Buck" leaves his memory with seven grandchildren, Laura Cooper of Jackson WY; Ashlee (Zeb) Hall of Friendship, TN; Blake (Bandana) Smith of Friendship, TN; Allison (Brandon) Neal of Obion, TN; Brittany (Will) Simmons of Kenton, TN; KJ and Kylie Caldwell of Kenton, TN. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Sue, on October 4, 2020. The family would like to recognize Pam Milligan Skaggs, his devoted caregiver and friend. His pride and joy were 10 great-grandchildren, Wade and Jessie Cate Hall, Jocelynn, Madilynn, Analee, and Isaish Neal, Colt and Wesson Smith, and Reagan and Rhett Simmons.

The family requests donations to be made to the Union Grove Cemetery Fund in lieu of flowers.

The funeral will be a private family service; however, an open graveside service will follow at Union Grove Cemetery, requiring mask and social distanceing due to Covid-19.

Private funeral service for family at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2020, with open graveside service to follow.
