Elizabeth and James Ariss were married of December 28, 1859, in Waterloo Township, Ontario.∼Mrs. Elizabeth Ariss (nee Buckler) was born
in the year 1835 and died January 20, 1914,
aged 78 years, 5 months. She was united in
holy matrimony to Mr. James Ariss who preceded
her about 10 years. Shortly after she
was married she gave her heart to the Lord
and with her husband joined the United Brethren
church at Montrose. She always retained
a consistent relationship with the church of
her choice, and to the end strove to follow the
Master. She was a beloved member of the
Berlin class for a number of years and was always
glad to speak of her Savior who did so
much for her and a proof of the longings of
her heart was revealed when her last will was
read and it was found that she willed her small
estate to five persons, $100 each and the rest
after all expenses were paid to the African
mission of the United Brethren church of
which she was a member. Her sickness which
was of about a month's duration resulted in
her demise through heart failure. She expressed
her desire to depart and be with Jesus
and calmly fell asleep to be with her Redeemer.
The funeral services were conducted
by the writer in the home where she departed
this life and her remains were laid to rest in
the Breslan cemetery. S. H . SWARTZ.
