Travis Baker, 43, of Fulton, SD, died Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 25 at Ascension Lutheran Church in Mitchell. The funeral service can be tuned into on the Church's parking lot radio channel 102.1. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Travis Ray Baker was born February 6, 1977 in Lynch, NE to Benny and Janice (Hoar) Baker. Travis grew up in Fairfax, SD attended school and graduated from Bonesteel-Fairfax High School in 1995. He moved to Mitchell, SD to attended Mitchell Technical Institute for Electrical Construction. He worked at TK Electric while attending school and after graduation. In June 2008 he started Baker Bros Electric where he worked along side his brothers serving the Mitchell area and surrounding communities. The people Travis met through his work were more than customers to him they were his friends.
He was united in marriage to Rebecca Trebil on September 22, 2006 in Mitchell, SD. To this union four children were born: Maxton, Kole, Morgan, and Boston. He was a member of Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mitchell, SD.
Travis had a passion for outdoor life. Growing up he enjoyed spending time on the river and learning hunting and trapping from his father. He carried on this tradition with his nephew and sons. He was a board member of the Stump Shooters Archery Club.
Travis lived a life full of love for Jesus and he emulated that in his work, relationships, and his actions towards others. The saying that he would give you the shirt off his back was Travis. He praised Jesus in the ups and in the downs and everyone that knew or crossed paths with him walked away just a little bit better. He meant the world to all his family, but most definitely his wife and children. Standing up for life was a passion for him and while simply adding that donor designation on his driver’s license may not have impacted him much at the time, knowing now that he has helped other families and lives continue on would be the icing on the cake to the legacy he leaves.
