She was always known as a strong-willed woman and a good cook. During World War II she worked at Warner Robins Air Force Base as one of the renowned “Rosie the Riveters”. Later during the war, she returned to Savannah. She became a 1st class welder at Savannah Machine and Shipyard where she helped construct liberty ships as part of the war effort. She returned after the war to become a homemaker and strong pillar for the family.
She is predeceased by her daughters, Sarah Jacquelyn Adams Mitchell and Carolyn Nancy Adams and her son, Donald Emory Adams. She was the last surviving sibling of her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Sidney Adams and his wife Lois of Ellabelle, son in law, Jerry Mitchell and his wife Jane, Theresa Adams and additional children by marriage, Brenda Sparks and her husband Ricky, Carolyn Helms and her husband Charlie, Ralph Frawley and his wife Carleen and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 24 at 2:00 P.M. at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery near Riddleville. Reverend M. D. Cabe and Reverend Walter Sparks will officiate. The family will have a viewing and visitation in the church sanctuary from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Pallbearers will be Rabun Frost, Larry Frost, Russell Jackson, William E. “Biff” Garrard, Jerry Mitchell and Mickey Morris.
