Dana was born in Tyler, Smith Co, TX to Gary Randall and Ruby Carol Hodo Hobbs. She was an award-winning baton twirler and dancer, and a straight-A student. She brought joy and sunshine into the lives of everyone who knew her. She was killed when her school bus hit her as she was crossing the highway to meet her mother after school.
Her step-mother, Gwendolyn Frances "Gwen" Goff Hobbs, is buried in Holly Springs Cemetery near Montalba in Anderson County, TX.

OBITUARY: Palestine Herald Press Sunday, November 6, 1983:
BULLARD - Funeral services for Dana Hobbs, 7, of Lake Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, the Revs. Bobby Conners and Royce Lasater officiating. Burial will be in Bullard Cemetery under the direction of Hassell & Foster Funeral Home of Palestine.
Dana died Friday afternoon at a Tyler hospital after being injured in a traffic accident.
She was born Aug. 31, 1976, in Tyler, a daughter of Ruby Hodo Hobbs and Gary Hobbs. She was a straight-A student in the second grade at Bullard Elementary School and also was active in twirling and gymnastics.
Survivors include her mother, Ruby C. Hobbs of Lake Palestine; her father and step-mother, Gary and Gwen Hobbs of Palestine; two brothers, Damon W. Hobbs of Lake Palestine and Dalen Hobbs of Palestine; her grandparents, J.W. and Ruth Hodo of Lake Palestine, Mina Hobbs and Willard Goff, both of Palestine, and Louise Anderson of Nacogdoches and her great-grandparents, Jim and Edith Higginbotham of Sherman and Mr. and Mrs. Willard D. Goff of Fort Worth.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Hunt, Bill Perry, Trey Dennis, Pon Fincher, Ronald Hardin and Paul Wofford.
Condolence calls will be received at the Hobbs residence, 112 W. Park, telephone 729-xxx, and at the Ruby Hobbs residence, Lake Palestine, telephone 825-xxxx.
