Shelly Jean Miller was born in Bloomfield, IA on October 1, 1963 to Rollin and Doris (Sloan) Jackson. She attended school at Davis County where she graduated, and then furthered her education in early child development at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, IA. Shelly was united in marriage to Jason Miller, to this union two children were born. They later divorced. Shelly was a loving mother to her three children: Jonathan, Bradie, and Michael. She was also very passionate about her grandchildren, who she took every opportunity to nurture and spend every spare moment with. Shelly was driven and passionate about anything she started. She was a devoted employee for many years at the Casey’s General Store in Eldon and most recently, a valued member of the bakery at the Fairfield Hy-Vee. She always made time for her family and loved being a grandmother. She also had a passion for cooking, where she would selflessly volunteer to prepare all the food for any family gathering, oftentimes far in excess of what was needed. Shelly enjoyed Christian concerts, gardening, cooking for family and friends and had a passion for second-hand shops. Shelly was an active member of the Living Hope Bible Church where she cherished her time with her church family. Shelly’s actions toward others were always based on compassion and thoughtfulness, and anytime someone left her presence they felt uplifted and genuinely loved. Her presence was a comfort to her family and friends, and though she will be missed, her caring spirit and loving heart will not be forgotten.
Shelly was preceded in death by her father, Rollin Adair Jackson.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jonathan Jackson of Bloomfield, IA, Bradie Miller (Mark Conley) of Bloomfield, IA, and Michael Miller of Eldon, IA; three grandchildren, Kalley Miller and Faith and Grace Conley; her mother, Doris Jackson; five siblings, Jack (Barb) Jackson of Batavia, IA, Mike Jackson of Grand Rapids, MI, Chris (Kim) Jackson of Cedar Falls, IA, Connie (Max) Steele of Wheatfield, IN, and Tim Jackson of Bloomfield, IA, as well as many extended family and friends.
