Lowell's Obituary

Lowell Marion Walker, of Ackworth, Iowa, entered peacefully into the gates of heaven on November, 21 2020, surrounded by his loving wife and devoted children. He was 85.

Lowell was born on February 4, 1935 on a farm near Norwalk, Iowa and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1954. He married Marilyn Nadine Lucas, on October 9, 1955 and together they had two children, Diana (Roger) Mitchell of Indianola, and David (Sheryl) Walker of Rochester, MN. Lowell had a love of farming and he and Marilyn farmed almost their whole married life, in St. Charles (1956-1960), Prairie City (1960-1963), Ackworth (1963-1980), and Carlisle (1989-1990), before moving to their final farm in Ackworth in 1990.

Some of Lowell’s greatest loves were serving in his local church, camping at the Iowa State Fair (for over 60 years), traveling in their motorhome from coast to coast, tinkering on his farm equipment, meals at Pizza Ranch, and holding events at his park. Nothing however, compares to the love that he had for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lowell was a man after God’s own heart, and would take advantage of any opportunity to share the gospel with anyone who would listen, often guiding them to their own relationship with Christ. Lowell led his family in a steadfast love of Jesus and the legacy that he leaves will be carried on for many generations to come.

Lowell is survived by the love of his life and wife of 65 years, Marilyn; daughter, Diana (Roger) Mitchell; son, David (Sheryl) Walker; grandchildren, Summer (Andy) Scott, Chad (Megan) Dop, Katelyn Cordie, and Mikayla Walker; great grandchildren Miles, Austin, Blake, Paighton, Cael, Teigan, and Shay; siblings, Evelyn Onstot, Helen Cook, Connie Wood, Judy Vasey, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Ada and Forest Walker; siblings, Gloria Palicz, Elmond Walker, Milton Walker, Dwayne Walker.

Services will be held 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at First Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. prior to service. You may also join the family on our Live Stream starting at 7 p.m. located on Lowell’s obituary page of our website. As of November 17, 2020, pursuant to the Governor’s proclamation, guest for visitation and will be limited to 15 people inside at a time. Masks are required.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family in Lowell’s name for a missionary contribution at a later date.
