Charlie was born on March 23, 1934, the son of Edward "Fritz" and Hazel (Mobley) Coffman in Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1952.
He married Barbara Coffman on May 5, 1981, in Unionville, Missouri. Charlie was employed with Lennox for 47 years before retiring. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Albion, and was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the NRA.
Charlie enjoyed the outdoors, where you could find him fishing, hunting, camping, or even trap shooting. You could also find him playing the card game pepper or pass the ace, cracking jokes with friends, and tool shopping at Harbor Freight.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Coffman of Albion; six children, Randy (Debbie) Coffman of La Quinta, California, Charles Coffman Jr. of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Jennifer (Brent) Byrum of Lincoln, Arkansas, Tim (Barb) Smith of Portland, Oregon, Chris (Tami) Smith of Marshalltown, and David (Ed Holomon) Smith; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Wendy Cook, and stepdaughter Pamela Cripps.
