Carla was a long time employee of Safeway, Inc. During her employment she served in the roles of cashier, and moved up to become one of the most valued and recognized bookkeepers within the company. She was employed for 19 years. Carla served as a local community ambassador for Safeway. She was well known by hundreds of customers and they could count on Carla greeting them with a sincere hello.
In 2009 Carla dedicated her life to Christ and became a member of Maranatha Church of God. She faithfully attended service and accompanied her mother, Arilena to church every Sunday. Carla shared her love for Christ with family, friends and any listening ear. Her faith gave her the strength to fight and overcome the challenges and obstacles of life.
Anything that Carla had she would willingly share. To Carla this meant sharing with everyone. For example if one of her nieces came to her house with candy, Carla would divide it equally to share amongst all of the kids. This could mean one Starburst would be cut into eight pieces!
Carla enjoyed reading her Bible and spending all of her free time with each and every one of her grandchildren. Auriana Monae Carpenter, Navaiah Latrice Wade, Mariah Michelle Wade, G Andre Wade III, and Xylah Rochell Daniels. Every Friday, Carla’s grandchildren were at her home. They were there until 3:00 p.m. “checkout” time on Saturday.
Once a week, Carla cherished family fun night with all three of her children. There was lots of laughter, love and memories they will forever cherish. Carla was a woman of trends. She kept up on the latest fashions, dances, and phrases of the times. She will be remembered for some of her favorites, “Hey Boo”, “Ain’t you trippin’ “and “Hey Now”. These phrases will live on forever.
