Jerry was born October 24, 1941 in Fairbury, IL the son of Francis Leonard and Myrtle Elizabeth (Wilkerson) Brown. He married Glenda F. Woodard on June 2, 1963.
Surviving are his wife, Glenda a son, a daughter, four grandchildren, a sister-in-law, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Kenneth Brown, Donald Brown and James Brown and his sister: Annabelle Marshall.
Jerry began his work career as a steel worker and foreman for Lasco Company. He went on to work until his retirement for Wagner Casting Company/Intermet. He belonged to the Iron Workers Local #46 Springfield, IL.
Jerry was a member of GT Church, Masonic Lodge Macon Eight in Decatur, and had formerly been a volunteer fireman/EMT for the Mt. Zion Fire Department. Jerry enjoyed playing pool and was a member of the APA Pool Association. He played in pool leagues and the senior pool league in the Decatur area. Jerry had a love for people and truly enjoyed all that knew him.
A service to celebrate Jerry's life was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2016, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion with Pastor Matt Samuels officiating. The family will received friends for visitation on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic service was held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening following the visitation. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
