On Thursday, September 19, 2019, Stephen Keith Robertson entered into the presence of his Savior as he passed from life in this world to eternal life in Christ Jesus. Steve trusted fully in Christ alone as the only means to be reconciled to God. His salvation was evidenced by a faithful life of obedience and love. His love for Jesus was reflected in his love for others. He is now experiencing fullness of joy!

Stephen Keith Robertson was born December 15, 1949 to Jesse Keith Robertson and Jeanelle Lindsay Robertson in Sinton, Texas. As a preacher’s son he moved around Texas several times until settling in Alice, Texas where he met Brenda Joyce Frank at West Main Baptist Church. When they met, Steve was in a wheelchair with a broken leg he received in a game playing quarterback for Agua Dulce High School. Steve and Brenda married on March 25, 1972. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas, and, just a few days after graduating, he welcomed his son, John Wayne “Duke” Robertson into the world. Steve then began pursuing a career in forensic science, and right after the birth of daughter Lisa Renee Robertson, he started work for The Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Lab. He served the state of Texas for forty-two years meticulously analyzing trace evidence found at crime scenes and linking that evidence to crime suspects. Steve loved his work and was highly respected by all in the field.

He is preceded in death by his father, Reverend Jesse “Keith” Robertson, and his mother, Jeanelle Robertson. Steve is survived by his beloved wife of over forty-seven years, Brenda Frank Robertson, and his two children, Duke (married to Josslyn King Robertson) and Lisa (married to Brandon Harper). Steve was a precious “Papa” to seven grandchildren: Nathan Curley (married to Rachel), Gwynn Robertson, Ella Harper, Lucy Harper, Reid Robertson, Annabelle Harper, and Kate Robertson. He is also survived by his brother Mike Robertson and his wife, Lisa, and daughter, Lindsay, and sister Susan Bell and husband, Brock Bell, and their children Maeghan and Mason.

Steve was a man of few words, but much wisdom. He was a steady presence with a servant’s heart. He loved hunting and wood-working, football, westerns, and watching the grandkids participate in their activities. Steve loved and served the church faithfully, and he had a heart to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. He survived a battle with cancer in his sinus cavity in 2009, and after a second battle with cancer in the same area, he has now experienced complete healing with no more sickness and no more sorrow.

The family would like to thank Dr. E. Hanna of M.D. Anderson Houston, Dr. M. Meigs of Austin Regional Clinic Otolaryngology, Dr. B. Hellerstedt of Texas Oncology, Estrella Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Georgetown, Texas, and Guiding Hospice for their excellent care. The family also gives much thanks to God for all of the family and friends who have called, messaged, visited, helped, provided meals, and done many things to love us well during this time. Steve had a special place in his heart for the Lottie Moon Christmas offering, so in lieu of flowers or in memorial, please donate to Lottie Moon at www.imb.org.
