NEPONSET - Donald S. Stetson, 80, of Princeton for the past two months, formerly of Neponset, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at his home.

Born April 20, 1923, in Kewanee to Ezra and Lotie Steele Stetson, he married Kathryn Gunning on May 25, 1946, in Neponset. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Dan (and Deborah) of Princeton and Robert (and Sue) of Johnston, Iowa; four daughters, Linda Stetson of Neponset, Patti (and Joe) Fahey of Yorkville, Barbara (and George) Kapacinskas of Houston, and Mary (and Michael) Nyert of Austin, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and two sisters, Carolyn (and John) Bond of Winter Park, Fla., and Susan (and Bob) Smith of Omega, Okla.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

A World War II Army veteran, he served in the Pacific Theater.

He was a grain and Angus beef farmer in the Neponset area most of his life and also did custom trucking. He attended the University of Illinois.

He attended Congregational Church in Neponset.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. The Rev. Ronald Toliver will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation has been accorded and private inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or any charity.
