Donald Leon Riley, 79, of Hartshorne, died Friday, Nov. 20, at Belfair of McAlester. The family will welcome friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 23, at 1:00 p.m.at the Gloryland Baptist Church in Hartshorne. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Don’s grandsons and great grandsons, Cody Ott, Christian Dalpaos, Trey Riley, Gavin Johnson, Richie Williams, Carter Johnson and Ayden Fry.

Don Riley was born on Oct. 5, 1941 in Gowen to William Leon Riley and Mavis Othella (Wolford) Riley-Stewart. He grew up in Hartshorne and graduated from Hartshorne High School in 1959. He married Ruby Cline Riley on March 10, 1961. Don started his career with T. H. Rogers Lumber Company and was soon their youngest ever manager. That work took him to Norman and Enid for a few years until he started his own construction company, Mid-South Construction. He built many homes in the Hartshorne area and also did some commercial work. He took his family to North Carolina for a while where he continued his construction work, and also did fire assessment and repair work. Don began his ministry work in 2003 and remodeled the old Twin Cities Nursing Home to become the Gloryland Baptist Church, where he pastored for several years, until he retired in 2018 due to health issues.

Don is survived by his wife, Ruby Riley; his children, Deborah Ott and husband Randy, Donna Bond and husband James, Crysta McFarland and husband Daniel, and Dr. Don Riley, II and wife Julie; grandchildren are Natalie Kitchell, Cody Ott and wife Candice, Marcy Ayers, Jessica Baldwin, Sophia McFarland, Alexandria McFarland, Donald Leon Riley, III, Kelsy Brownell and husband Heath, and Emma Riley; 13 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jerry Riley and wife Margaret, and Dale Riley and wife Janet; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a great grandson, Luke James Ott.
