A. Joe White, 87, a resident of Irving since 1959, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Methodist Hospital Hospice in Dallas. Born May 5, 1933 in Van Alstyne, he was the son of the late Joe Dolpherus White and Vylanta Artel Shaw White. He grew up in Van Alstyne and later graduated from Denison High School and Baylor University. He served in the United States Navy from 1951 – 1954. He was employed by Union Bankers Insurance Company in Dallas for 34 years where he was Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. He was a member of First Baptist Church since 1961. On August 4, 1956 he married Marion Louise Dorbritz at First Baptist Church in Brenham, Texas.
Preceded in death by his parents; a sister Ruth Roach; and a daughter, Stephanie Ann White Morrel, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marion of Irving; a daughter Robin Lynn White Pickens and husband John of Frisco; a son-in-law, Robert Morrel and wife Karla of Cedar Creek; one sister Betty Timmerman and husband Walter of Ankeny, Iowa; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services are planned for 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 30, 2020 at First Baptist Church, 403 South Main Street in Irving. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. Burial will be at 10:15 am. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas 75211 under the direction of Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving.
