Phyllis worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools where she served for 25 years first as an Aide, then as a Secretary/Treasurer at Lakeside Middle School and finally was the Secretary to the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the Fort Wayne Community Schools Administration Building. She loved spending time with her family, adored young children, and was actively involved in her church. Music played an active role throughout her life, along with visiting the National Parks and doing puzzles.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 66 years, Philip, Pastor Emeritus of Northridge Baptist Church and her children; Esther Bjorklund of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Martha Shoff of Elkhart, Indiana, Paul Lacy of Indianapolis, Indiana, and daughter-in-law Janet Lacy of Albuquerque New Mexico. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Adam Bjorklund, Kyle and Samuel Lacy, Jasmine Derck, Christian, Kali, and Jonathan Lacy, and a sister, Bonna Hindel. She had two sisters who preceded her in death, Ellen Whittaker and Donna (Dale) Johnson.
A graveside service for Phyllis will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Highland Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, 2403 E Wallen Road. A drive through visitation will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 2:30-5:30 PM at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road.
