Charlotte Appolonia French, age 97 passed away Sunday Nov 8, 2020 at the Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home. Charlotte was born to Charles Meyer and Appolonia Wirtzberger and was raised in Westby, Mt. She married Omer French in 1940 and moved to rural Flaxville where they had a farm. Her husband Omer passed away in 1995. Three children survive their union: Sherry Berge (Ken), Roberta French and Marva French. They have four grandsons and three granddaughters surviving: Kenneth Berge (Dawn), Kim Berge, Scott Berge (Jerri), Deborah Puckett Cardoza (Chris), Raquel Puckett Cervantes (Al), Daniel Puckett and Brian Puckett. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren. A son LeRoy French and a daughter LuAnne Puckett passed away earlier.
Charlotte was a Montana housewife that believed in the values of hard work, faith and being active in her religion, and service to her community. She loved gardening, socializing, cooking and family gatherings. She had a green thumb and was known for being an excellent cook. Charlotte was active in her church and enjoyed all the activities associated with it such as the church dinners which she was an instrumental part of. Charlotte loved playing on a talented softball team with Sherry and LuAnne when the girls were in high school. She was also a talented bowler. Charlotte was known for being an excellent card player and played bridge for years until she lost all her partners. During holidays she and Omer and all the relatives would play poker and she was formidable.
Whenever she was called on to provide assistance, she was always eager to help. She was one of the people that helped get Glenwood Inc in Plentywood established. Charlotte served on the church council and helped organize bake sales for the church booth at the Daniels County Fair.
Memorial Services will be held this coming spring. Interment will be in the Flaxville cemetery next to her husband Omer and son LeRoy.
