Oliver Thurston Davis, age 96, of Dunlap died in a McMinnville hospital Saturday, September 26, 2015.

Mr. Davis graduated from Sparta High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a prominent Dunlap businessman as owner of Davis Brothers Seed and Livestock, builder, owner and manager of Dunlap Motel, and Restaurant, member of Sequatchie County Board of Education, Director of Sequatchie County Farmers Cooperative, Order Buyer of Registered Angus Cattle for clients throughout the Southeastern United States and also assisted clients in the set up of farm operations for pig and angus cattle production. He grew hybrid seed corn for the McCurdy Company, he loved to garden, growing tomatoes, corn, potatoes, and yellow crook-neck squash.

Mr. Davis became a Realtor-Broker and appraiser of Residents and Commercial for banks and individuals. He was president of Upper Cumberland Development District for 5 years.

He also held a patent for an adjustable showerhead. He had been a director of Citizens Tri- County Bank since 1981.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by four brothers, Rhea, Claude, Paul, and Thurman Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Aline Sparkman Davis, Dunlap; three daughters, Diane Gillentine, Morrison, TN, Sue Clark, McMinnville, TN, and Jill (Ralph) Smith, Tupelo, MS; two grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Smith, Houston, TX, and Heather Smith, Tupelo, MS; four great-grandchildren, Emma, Elaine, Elise, and Jacob Smith; one nephew, Donald David Smith; and lots of friends and businness associates.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. CST Tuesday at Ewton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dennis Boston and Bro. Brian Kearns officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Doyle, TN.

Pallbearers: Ben and Scott Sparkman, David Thurman, Greg Johnson, Monte McBee, and Michael Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Glen Barker and the Directors of Citizens Tri-County Bank.
