SGT Kenneth Thomas Lackey Jr.

May 15, 1998 - November 11, 2020

Sgt. Kenneth Thomas Lackey Jr. born May 15, 1998 in Bluefield, WV left this Earth on November 11, 2020.

He graduated from Princeton Senior High School, Princeton, WV in 2016. From the time he was about 12 he always said “as soon as I graduate, I’m joining the Army”, and that’s exactly what he did. Kenny joined the United States Army for Active duty in January 2017. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning Georgia. He then reported to Fort Bliss Texas where he was assigned to 1st Battalion 35th Armored Brigade. He served as Grenadier and Automatic Rifleman. He went on to serve many more positions and was awarded many awards, medals, and achievements.

Those that preceded him in death were his paternal grandfather Allen Lackey, paternal great grandmother Lola Shy, maternal grandmother Diane Brown, maternal great-great grandmother Ruby Gilpin, paternal great grandfather Allen Brown Sr., maternal great grandfather Raymond Gilpin, and paternal Uncle Ronnie Brown.

Left to cherish his memories are the love of his life Jessica Lackey, mother Kathy Belcher and husband Donald, brother Allen Brown III and wife Jennifer, nieces Natalie and Nevaeh Brown and Kylie Lambert, sister Kaila Rash and fiancé Michael Rodriguez, nephew Michael Oliver, grandfather Allen Ray Brown Jr. His father Kenneth Lackey Sr., grandmother Debbie Lackey, aunt Pattie Gibson and husband Ed and Bella, Aunt Tammy Boswell and husband Elvis and their children, Elvis, Travis and his wife Justice, Ariel, Stella, Bentley and Ellie. His in laws that loved him like he was their own, Melody and her husband Ronald.

Kenny was a great man that loved the Army and serving his country. Funeral services will be Monday November 23, 2020 at 2pm at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Pastor Keith Maxwell officiating. Friends may visit with family 1 hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Maple Hill cemetery with full military rites by US Army Honor Guard.
