Joyce Elaine Jennings, 84, Corydon, IA passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020 at her home.

She was born on August 9, 1936 on the Plymell Family farm southeast of New Hampton, Missouri. She was the eldest child of Virgil and Alverta Plymell. She graduated from Pleasant Ridge #90 country school in 1950 and attended two years of high school at New Hampton High and graduated from Bethany High School in 1954. She attended Gard Business College in St. Joseph, Missouri. Joyce was a Deputy County Clerk of Harrison County, Missouri from 1955-1958.

On May 22, 1955, she was united in marriage to Larry G. Jennings at the home of Reverend O.D. Hedges, Martinsville, Missouri. They were blessed with two children, Debbie and Mike.

On January 1, 1961, they moved to Corydon, Iowa. Larry worked for Hy-Vee and in 1964, Joyce started working at John H. Rider Abstract Office. They both retired in 1999. They have enjoyed bus trips, taking cruises, and spending time with their family and friends since retiring.

Joyce loved attending school activities of Debbie, Mike, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and her house plants. She made several counted cross stitch pictures for her family.

Joyce was a member of the White Oak EUB Church southeast of New Hampton transferring her membership to the Corydon Methodist Church in 1967. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Martha Circle, Eden Garden Club, and Wayne County Hospital Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Alverta Plymell; parents-in-law, Frank and Berniece Jennings; brother, Bill and wife, Hazel Plymell; brothers-in-law, Chuck Blake and Mark Adams and sister-in-law, Darlene and husband, Tobe Elder.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 65 years, Larry; daughter, Debbie (Lee) Horton, Corydon, IA; son, Mike (Stephany) Jennings, Pleasant Hill, IA; three granddaughters, Leanne (Michael) Dixson, Osceola, IA, Shanna (Robbie) Clowser, Corydon, IA, Rachelle (Joshua) Christensen, Russell, IA; one step-granddaughter, Chelsey Horton, Corydon, IA; six great grandchildren, Chase, Shailey, and Isabella Dixson, Jaxson, Maverick, and Ariya Clowser; two step-great grandchildren, Destiny Gilson and Lee Davis; siblings, Dick (Sue) Plymell, Lees Summit, MO, Sharon Adams, Independence, MO, Mark (Pam) Plymell, New Hampton, MO; brother-in-law, Frank (Connie) Jennings, Kansas City, MO and several nieces and nephews.
