Betty Burch Rogers Zimmerman

Norwich-Betty was born on May 16, 1927 in Brookfield, the first child of Lester C. and Anna Wheeler Burch. She attended school in both Brookfield and Leonardsville Schools, graduating from Leonardsville High School in 1944.

Betty passed away peacefully at the home and comfort of her daughter, Barbara’s Norwich home, with the love and support of Betty’s family at her side, on Sunday, November 15, 2020.

Betty married her high school sweetheart Larry C. Rogers in June of 1948. Their children from their blessed union include; Sandra (William) Corey of Warsaw, Barbara (Doug) Hilts of Norwich and David (Patty Cook) Rogers of Hamilton.

Larry predeceased Betty in 1963. She later married Daniel W. Zimmerman in 1971. They had a daughter Laura Ann (Larry) Brown of Edmeston. Daniel predeceased Betty in January of 2012.

Following high school, Betty had worked several years at National Auto. She later became a full-time mom and housekeeper as the children came along. Following Larry’s passing, Betty became employed as a Finance Clerk at New York Central Mutual Insurance for 25 years, retiring in December of 1989.

Betty is survived by her four children and their spouses; three step daughters: Nancy (Bob) Forste of Florida, Martine (Don) Tangredi of Copake and Geraldine (Gerald) LeClar of Oxford; ten beloved grandchildren: Joanna (Charlie) Craigmile of Warsaw, Linda Corey of SC, Ryan (Nicky) Hilts of CT, Steven (Melissa) Hilts of MA, Larissa (Ryan) Ellis of NJ, Jennifer Rogers of OK, Marcia (Craig) Loomis of Madison, David Jr. (Jamie) Rogers of Geneva and Justin Brown and Raven Brown both of Edmeston; 5 step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is also survived her brother Jerrold (Hazel) Burch and her sister-in-law, Janith Burch all of Brookfield.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Anna, her husbands, Larry and Daniel, her brother Robert Burch, her sister Janice Risley, her brother-in-law A. Elmer Risley and her granddaughter Tammy J. Corey.

Betty enjoyed bowling for many years at the Bridgewater Bowling Alley. She was a long-standing member of Rebecca Lodge of Brookfield, having served in many of the lodge’s positions. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Edmeston, as well as Edmeston’s American Legion Post 1311 Auxiliary.

Betty’s family will gather for private funeral services at the First Baptist Church of Brookfield, officiated by Rev Mark Thall, Pastor. A “Celebration of Betty’s Life” will be held at a future date to be announced. Her funeral service will be posted on Facebook Live starting at 1 PM on Saturday to be on the Brookfield First Baptist Church’s Facebook Site; 1stbabtistbrookfield.
