The Life Story Of Mr. Ronald Gregg Ward, Sr.

The almighty God, in his infinite wisdom and sovereignty, has chosen to call another one of his soldiers from Earth to Glory. Ronald Gregg Ward, Sr. peacefully departed this earthly life on Monday, November 9, 2020. His was a life wonderfully well lived.

Ronnie Ward was born in Galveston, Texas on Monday, September 7, 1952 to two amazing parents – Dehill and Camilla Ward. He attended Galveston I.S.D. public schools where he played all sports – inclusive of baseball, basketball, and football; however, Ronnie excelled in football. Ronnie's family and friends tagged him with the nickname "SuperNat" because of his exceptional skills in football. After High School, he had a desire to serve his country – so Ronnie Ward enlisted in the United States Army where he gave valiant service. He received Honorable Discharge and then returned home to Galveston, Texas.

Ronnie Ward grew up in the Shiloh A.M.E. Church where he received Christ at an early age. He served with the Lay Organization and he also served as a faithful usher until his health began to fail. Ronnie also had a fulfilling occupational life. He worked as a CNA at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) for several years. Afterward, he then began a career as a correctional officer with the Department of Criminal Justice. He also has worked for the City of Galveston and Moody Gardens until his health failed.

Ronald Ward, Sr. is preceded in death by both parents – Dehill and Camilla Ward, two brothers – Hezekiah Bowers and Elijah Bowers, and one nephew – Reginald Wayne Tottenham.

He is survived by eight offspring (four sons and four daughters): Joel C. Loftis, Ronisha Ward, Ronnie Alicia Loftis Henderson, Nakisha Ward Jones, Ebony Crawford, Ronald Bryant Ward, Ronald Gregg Ward, Jr. and Vincent F. Ward. He is also survived by a 'bonus daughter' – Simone Flemming, 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a faithful and loving sister – Pearlie Dianne Ward, a bold and brave brother – Eric Dwayne Ward, a seasoned aunt – Ms. Carrie Thompson (99 years of age), one sister-in-law – Florence Bowers, wife – Lawanda H. Ward, a special friend – Taffy Smith, and a great number of additional relatives, coworkers, church family, and friends.

A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 followed by a homegoing service at 10:00 a.m. Both events will take place at Shiloh A. M. E. Church, 1310 Martin Luther King Boulevard (29th Street) in Galveston, Texas.

Services are entrusted to the staff of Bay Area Funeral Directors, 5410 FM 1765 (facing Highway 3) in Texas City, Texas 77591. 409-933-4300.
