Mr. Neal was a Martinsville High School graduate with the class of 1968. He retired from Cinergy in 2003 after 35 years, where he worked as a lineman and Electrical Engineer. In addition, Don was a reserve police officer for the Martinsville Police Department, a volunteer fireman for the Martinsville Fire Department and a Martinsville City Councilman, serving district 2 for eight years.
He was a member of Mount Nebo Church in Martinsville and served as President of the Martinsville Baseball League for 10 years.
Donnie enjoyed visiting Traderbakers Flea Market, mushroom hunting, deer hunting and fishing. He also thoroughly enjoyed supporting his granddaughters’, Kayla and Madison, during their softball season and watching his grandson, Tyler, race. Often, Don could be found tinkering in his garage and working on about anything; however, his greatest joy was inevitably spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He leaves behind his loving family including his wife, Norma Jean (Campbell) Neal of Martinsville, whom he married June 8, 1968; one son, Jeff Neal (wife, Leah) and daughter, Jennifer Pineda (husband, Sam) of Martinsville; sisters, Janet McCarty of Plainfield, IN and Patricia Clark (husband, Melvin) of Martinsville; brother, Jerry Neal (wife, Sherry) of Tennessee; grandchildren, Kayla Shepherd (husband, David) of Bowling Green, IN, Tyler Neal (wife, Morgan) of Paragon, IN, Madison Williams and Levi Collins of Martinsville and great grandchildren, Dayton and Sadie.
Due to COVID restrictions, the family has chosen to have private services. He will be laid to rest in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
