Dr. Joseph F. Hacker, Jr., 85, of Macungie, died Nov. 27, 2010 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Carolyn S. (Shankweiler) Hacker. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on July 30, 2010. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Urhmann) Hacker.
He was a 1942 graduate of Allentown High School and a graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry, where he was a member of the Frederic James Society and the John A. Kolmer Medical Society. He was a General Practice Dentist in Allentown for 44 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Faith U.C.C., Allentown. He was a life member of the American Dental Association, the PA Dental Association, and the Lehigh County Dental Society. He honorably served his country in the Army in the 702nd Medical Battalion, serving on a hospital ship, crossing both oceans during WWII.
