He was a 1942 graduate of Allentown High School and a graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry, where he was a member of the Frederic James Society and the John A. Kolmer Medical Society. He was a General Practice Dentist in Allentown for 44 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Faith U.C.C., Allentown. He was a life member of the American Dental Association, the PA Dental Association, and the Lehigh County Dental Society. He honorably served his country in the Army in the 702nd Medical Battalion, serving on a hospital ship, crossing both oceans during WWII.

Hacker, and wife, Terry, of Allentown; daughters, Mary, wife of Joseph LaPorte, of Macungie and Jane, wife of Rick L. Dotter, of Breinigsville; sisters, Viola Mack, of Bethlehem and Mae, wife of Kenneth T. Moyer, of Allentown; grandchildren, Anthony LaPorte, Michael Reese, Andrew LaPorte, Kari Hacker-Brown, Kelly Hacker-Kelly, Kathryn, Kimberly, and Kasey Hacker, Tyler and Luke Hacker, Emily, Eric, and Elizabeth Dotter; great-granddaughter, Addison Kelly.
