Cecil L. Carr, age 81, of Hopkinsville, a Trigg County native, passed away Monday, January 20, 2020, at Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville. Born September 29, 1938, in Trigg County, he was the son of the late L.A. "Dump" Carr and the late Nola Myrtle (Jones) Carr.

He married Wanda Noel on December 18, 1960. Cecil began his working career at the former Thurman's IGA store located in downtown Cadiz. He later accepted a job with the Kentucky Department of Highway's Trigg County Maintenance Garage, where he worked for 30 years, retiring as Road Foreman. After his retirement, he enjoyed being able to spend time with his granddaughter Alana, who affectionately dubbed him "Pop". Never one to sit idle, Cecil loved the open road, often driving just for the sake of the trip. He also provided transportation for many members of the Amish community whom he befriended. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three half-brothers, Reed Ahart, Henry Ahart, and Gene Ahart.

He is survived by:
his wife of 59 years, Wanda (Noel) Carr of Hopkinsville;
two sons, Andy (Deedy) Carr of Hopkinsville, and Alan (Rita) Carr of Cadiz;
his granddaughter, Alana Carr;
two step-grandsons, Tommy Rundall and James "Pete" Rundall;
five step-great-grandchildren, Breeauna Rundall, Elizibeth Rundall, Zoe Rundall, Gemma Rundall, and Willow Rundall;
two brothers, Earl (Ann) Carr and Jimmie (Shirley) Carr, both of Cadiz; and
a sister, June (Glenn) Hensley of Cadiz.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service time of 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Reverend David Turner and Reverend Norman Cotton will officiate. Burial will follow in Trigg Memory Acres.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
