Robert Harry Lester, 76, passed away on November 1, 2020. He was born December 8, 1943 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Harry Robert Lester and Janet Mae Shane and was a resident of Jacksonville, FL for 40 years.

Robert received his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and his Masters of Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University. He served in the United States Army for three years achieving the rank of Second Lieutenant. He deployed to Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service.

After a brief career in civil engineering, he found his passion selling heavy equipment in Columbus, OH and later in Jacksonville, FL. His hobbies included golf, fishing, travel and watching sports, especially his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and his grandson’s baseball games.

He is predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Ann Lester. He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Ann Haug (Tim) and Jennifer Lynn Lester (William Norman); two grandchildren, Maxwell Ryan Haug and Sara Elizabeth Lester; and a sister, Judy Roberson.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to The Bolles School, 7400 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32217. Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home
