Prominent Citizen Dies.

Special to The Register.

Austin, Dec. 8 - Charles W. Thorp, one of the most prominent citizens of Travis county, died this morning at 7 o'clock at his home at McNeil, this county, a small town on the International & Great Northern railway.

Deceased was a brother of City Marshal Thorp of this city, and was 46 years of age. He was one of the best known men and most popular in this part of the county. McNeil has been his home for the past 25 years and during that time he had been actively engaged in the mercantile pursuits and up to the time of his death he was the manager of one of the largest firms in that place.

A wife and seven children survive him, four boys and three girls, all of whom reside at the family home with the exception of one that is married.

The remains will be interred in the cemetery at Merrilltown, which is near the home of the deceased.
