Robert Morrow

KANKAKEE — Robert Austin Morrow was born November 14, 1935 in Bolivar, Tennessee, to the union of George, Sr. and Annie Vaught Morrow. The family relocated to Kankakee April 1944 where he went to Franklin School (now Millie Proegler) and graduated from Kankakee High School in June 1954. In 2001 he graduated from the Interdenominational Theological Center, Atlanta, Georgia, with a Certificate in Theology.

Robert served in the United States Air Force from August 18, 1954 until May 19, 1958 receiving an Honorable Discharge.

He married Jean (Fields) Tinsley on July 3, 1964 in Kankakee.

Robert worked as a pressman at The Daily Journal. He later found work at Armstrong Cork and Tile. He was employed at Comed as a customer service representative and later retired after thirty plus years of service.

His hobbies included golfing and attending sporting events with family. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan.

He was a long-time member of the Caldwell Chapel AM E Zion Church where he served in a number of capacities, including Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Class Leader, Choir Member, Sunday School Teacher, Conference Delegate and Men's Club." He especially enjoyed delivering meals for the Annual Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner.

On Wednesday, November 11, Robert quietly and triumphantly went home to be with His Lord and Savior, just 3 days shy of his 85th birthday.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Eric A. Morrow of Champaign, IL and Osborn (Mary) Tinsley III of Steger, IL; one daughter, Iva Jan Velma of Kankakee; one brother, Burland Morrow, Sr. of Kankakee; one granddaughter Kila Pickett of Kankakee; one great-granddaughter Kiana Pickett of Dallas, Texas; and one great-grandson Tahj Bradley-Bey of Kankakee; a cousin Shirley Fentress of Glenwood, IL; Nieces: Dr. Lavern Morrow (Larry }Carter of Falls Church, Virginia and Vynetta Morrow of St. Louis, Missouri; Nephews: Glen Morrow of Falls Church, Virginia, Jeffery Morrow of Kankakee, Kenneth Morrow of St. Louis, Missouri and Burland (Willamena) Morrow II of Kankakee and special friends: Elmer Griffin, Earnest Frazier and Ezekiel Archie, along with a host of great nieces, great nephews and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, former wife Jean D. Morrow, brother George Morrow, Jr. and sister Elizabeth Morrow.
