Doreen Laverick married Norman John Esary, some time between 1959-1974. He was the love of her life. Norman passed away on 19 Dec 1977 in Seattle, King County, Washington, USA.

April 1991-(Numerous Canadian newspaper articles (same story) on Newspaper.com states "Richard, who grew up in Vancouver with his mother, dancer Doreen Esary, says it was "pretty cool" to be a 12-year old with an ultra-famous TV star for a dad. Article goes on to say that at that time "Martin is in Vancouver to act in North of Pittsburgh, a feature being shot now by Vancouver director Richard Martin, who, yes, is his son. We (Doreen and Dick) played The Cave Supper Club in 1956 [sic], and that's where Richard came from," Dick laughs. [Correct year would have been 1955 since Richard was born in April 1956].
