Larry served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Phillips or Uncle Larry went on to spend his life devoted to education and sharing his love of music. Mr. Phillips served as band director at N. Mecklenburg High School from 1957-1984. He served as music director at Derita Baptist, Huntersville First Baptist, Hopewell Presbyterian, First Presbyterian Church Kannapolis, and lastly Huntersville A.R.P, from 1999-2018. Larry was a member of Huntersville A.R.P. Church and was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ.
Larry was a wonderful person, very likeable, kind, and loved by all. His many friends will remember him well and miss him greatly.
