Nathaniel L. Thomas, Sr. (aka Nate or Nay), 72, of Lorain, passed away after a short illness on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain. He was born December 22, 1947 in Lorain, where he was a lifelong resident.

He accepted Christ at a young age and was a graduate of Clearview High School, Class of 1967. After graduation,he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Vietnam and Germany. He was honorably discharged in December 1970.

Nate was a machinist for 45 years at Nordson Corp. from 1972 until retiring in 2017. He enjoyed watching Clevelandsports with his wife and loved going to the Clearview and Lorain High Schools to watch the school basketball and football games with his friend, Edwin Garcia. Also, everyone who knew him knew that he loved fishing and hunting. He would teach anyone who wantedto learn how to fish, especially young people. Nate had a very kind, beautiful soul and loved nature.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, Arlene Thomas (nee Ware); sons, Sean (Clara) of Arizona, AdrianSr. (Kelly) of Lorain and Nathaniel Jr. of Lorain; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; aunts, Betty Simmons of New Jersey and Ruby Thurman (nee Thomas) of Mesa Arizona; other relatives and friends.

Nathaniel was preceded in death by his father, James Thomas; mother, Jeanette Thomas (nee Simmons) and brothers, James Thomas and Larry Thomas.

A walk-through public viewing will be held Friday, October 9, 2020 from 11 a.m. until private family services at 12 Noon at Faith Ministries Christian Center, 1306 Euclid Ave., Lorain. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
