Joe Charles Rodgers, 87, died on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at James L. West Memory Care Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Joe was born March 21, 1933, in West Point, Mississippi, where his parents owned a grocery store. He was very active in school sports and in his church, where he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at age eleven. After high school Joe attended Ole Miss for one year, and then transferred to Baylor, where he met and married Carolyn Barr in 1955. After graduation, he spent twenty years in the Air Force, during which time he served his country in Vietnam as a pilot. After Retirement from the Air Force, he and Carolyn settled in Fort Worth, where Joe did freelance piloting, before going to work for Simu-Flite (now CAE). Joe enjoyed flying, and teaching young pilots. He also loved memorizing scripture and connecting with people. Joe never met a stranger. Joe was survived by his wife of 65 years, Carolyn; his four children and their spouses; Sandra Belek (Pud), Vicki Mitchell (deceased,) (Steve), Bill Rodgers (June), and John Rodgers (Angie). He was survived by fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a beloved sister, Mary Carolyn Ellis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom he greatly loved. A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 24 November, at Dalas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
