“Big John” “Jackie”
John C. Reed, 66, left this world November 9, 2020 at his home.
He was born September 8, 1954, in Roslindale, MA, the son of Jack & Mary T (Bates) Reed. John graduated from Xaverian Brother High School, Class of 1972. Following graduation, he served in the US NAVY aboard the USS SARATOGA CV60. He then became a boiler maker, and later a boiler operator. He retired from Red River Army Depot. He rooted for the Cowboys, Notre Dame, Celtics, and the Red Sox. John loved Tom Clancy novels and could knock out a crypto quote in record time. John was a proud member of the Banshee M.C. and loved to ride “Cinderella”. His smile was contagious, his heart was bigger than Dallas, and his wit never matched. John was a loving husband, father, brother, and “Grandpa/’Anpa”. John was a loyal friend and “brother” to many. He lit any path he traveled.
John was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sisters.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Elizabeth A (Forrester) Reed and her son Ethan, are his sister, Kimberly (Reed) Stocks, and her husband Terry of VA, and their sons Dustin and Dylan; his son Aaron and his wife Leah of Texarkana, and their daughters Kyler Lace and Paisley Jon; his daughter Andrea Sellers of Texarkana ; his daughter Alyssa Reed of Dardanelle, AR, and her son Titus Spencer and daughter Truly Spencer.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21st at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens in Nash, TX. Flower arrangements may be sent in his name to Texarkana Funeral Home, 3515 Texas Blvd, Texarkana, TX 75503.Please see legacy.com for obituary details.
John was the kinda guy that always had time for a smile and a chat. He liked for people to be happy, but for sure, you did not want to hurt the people he loved!
I met him first, but he took a shine to my best friend, and they were married. And
He was kind enough to give me away at my last marriage.
If he said he would do it, he would. The world would be a better place with more like him.
I pray you are with Jesus, John.
