Thomas, whose father was Bluford Neighbors, was a very early pioneer in this area, coming to Jacksonville in 1831. He served in the Black Hawk War, and was a farmer.

He married Mrs. Mary (Gordon) Gill 10 April 1834 in Morgan County, IL. Their chidren included Elizabeth, wife of Edward Burrill; William who married Julia Ann Shaunce; Samuel; Sarah, wife of Jonas Spencer; Josiah, who married Elizabeth Jane Spencer; and John, who married Nancy Baines.

Elizabeth, her husband and five young children, as well as Sarah and her husband and three young children are all buried in this cemetery.
