Thomas "Esby" Davidson Sr. 1919 - 2007
Mr. Thomas Davidson Sr., age 87, of Bruce, Fla., passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007. He was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Walton County, Florida to Asa and Mary Bowers Davidson.
Mr. Davidson was a lifelong resident of Walton County. He was Assembly of God by faith and a member of Bruce Assembly of God Church. He was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the United States Army, having fought at the Battle of the Bulge in the 101st Airborne Division. He worked as a Long Shoremen and Stevedore at the Bay Harbor and Port Panama City for 37 years. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid outdoors man. He also enjoyed visiting having received the nickname "Radio" because of his love for talk. He also loved gospel music and attending gospel sings.
Mr. Davidson was preceded in death by his father and mother; two sons, Dennis Davidson and Tim Davidson; one daughter, Betty Estelle Davidson; three grandsons, Ryan Miller, Darrell Horton and Kevin Davidson.
Mr. Davidson is survived by his wife, Wanda Davidson of Bruce; four sons, Edward Davidson of Madison, Ala., Kenneth Davidson and wife Diane of Freeport, Fla., Jackie Davidson and wife Tracy of Bruce, and Asa Walker Davidson of Bruce; five daughters, Charlene Horton and husband Joe of Panama City, Fla., Cherry Hunt and husband Joe of Freeport, Linda Simones of Panama City, Peggy Allon and husband Charlie of Panama City, and Amy Benway and husband Ron of Niceville, Fla.; 31 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev.'s Horrace McCormick and Christopher Miller officiating.
Pallbearers are as follows, Joe Byrd, Thad Byrd, Chris Manning, John Simones, Aulton Byrd and Edward Davidson. Honorary pallbearers are Curtis Edward Davidson, Delbert Horton, David Horton, Douglas Horton, Phillip Hunt, James Hunt, Josh Simones, Nathan Allon, Sean Allon, Justin Davidson, Anthony Turner, Howard Burnham, Chris Miller, Thomas Cody Davidson and Kenneth Esby Davidson, Josh Davidson and The Local Long Shoreman.
Floral arrangements are being accepted. Burial will follow in Black Creek Cemetery.
