The Seymour (Indiana) News, dated January 16, 1879
Gardiner, Comfort -- Mrs. Comfort Gardiner, consort of Isaac Gardiner, deceased, was found dead in her bed at the residence of her son-n-law, John C. Cox, a few miles south of the city on Thursday of last week. She was the mother of Marshal Gardiner [sic], who lived and died in Brownstown some 30 odd years ago. She was about 79 years of age.
