Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, November 24, 2017 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Jack Emmite will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Duane was born April 11, 1941, in Versailles, MO to Neal Loyd and Hazel Sousley Bowman.
He was married to Nancy Martin. She survives.
Other survivors include 1 daughter, Sabra Bowman Meier, 1 son, Butch Bowman and 1 step son, Jerry Shephard, 4 grandchildren, Rachel Shephard Robinson, Melissa Shephard, Josh Meier and Jacob Meier, 2 brothers : Larry Bowman and Steve Mahnken; 2 sisters: Kay Soendker and Pam Bartley. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
Duane was a graduate of Higginsville High School, Class of 1958. He served his country proudly as a member of United States Navy. Professionally Duane retired from DuPont in 1992 after a career as a project manager.
In his time away from work Duane could often be found on the golf course. An avid golfer Duane also enjoyed fishing. He was a past board member of the Jackson Park Golf Course in Palmyra, MO. Duane was also a member of American Legion Post # 174 in Palmyra, MO.
Duane was a Lutheran by faith.
