An outdoor drive-up funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Tim C. Pruitt officiating. Burial with honors by the Wilkes County Fire Department Honor Guard will be in the church cemetery. A public viewing for Mr. Byrd will be held Tuesday from 12:00 until 5:00 PM and Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mr. Byrd was born February 16, 1957 in Wilkes County to Jeter Earl and Epsie Harris Byrd. He worked for American Merchandising Specialists as a Warehouse and Facility Manager. He was a member and Deacon of Victory Baptist Church, a member of the Mountain View Fire Department where he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. Dwight was affectionately known as the “Mayor of Mountain View” by many of his friends. He always had a smile on his face and was loved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother; Dale Byrd and an infant grandchild.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Adams Byrd of the home, a daughter; Whitney Goddard and husband Derek of West Jefferson, a son; Graylan Byrd and wife Nikki of Davidson, two grandchildren; Delia Goddard and Caden Byrd and a grandson on the way, a sister; Wanda Johnson and husband G.T. of Wilkesboro, two brothers; Dean Byrd and wife Judy of Hays and David Byrd and wife Gail of Roaring River and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
