On Saturday, November 14, 2020 our loving Momma and Granny gained her angel wings at the age of 85. JoAnn, better known as Granny to those that knew her and loved her, was born on November 15, 1934 in Sargent, GA to the union of Fannie Bryant Duncan and John Tom Duncan. Granny retired in 2015 after 36 years of employment at Tensas Parish Library. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Baptist Church. She did her Sunday school lessons daily. Granny loved her family deeply, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. She was always down for a road trip with her granddaughters and was the best back seat driver they ever had. She loved to cook. Granny’s favorite color was red, she enjoyed eating at Olive Garden, and loved listening to The Old Rugged Cross, The Anchor Holds, and Amazing Grace.
Granny is preceded in death by her parents, Fannie and John Duncan; husband, Clinton “Lil’ Bud” McDaniel; son, Damon McDaniel; sisters, Janet Breland and Christine Pippen; and brothers, Manuel Duncan, Harry Duncan and Howard Duncan.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are her son, Ronnie McDaniel (Rebecca Bellemin); daughter, Jane McEacharn (David); grandsons, Rod McDaniel (Laura), Patrick Kelly (Monique), granddaughters, Tabatha Merkley (Lance), Samantha Norwood (Hunter); and great-grandchildren, Macy McDaniel, Braxton McDaniel, Carter Merkley, Porter Merkley, Wilder Merkley, Sutton Norwood, Kipton Norwood, Troy Penhorwood, Sawyer Kelly, Harper Kelly, and Thatcher Kelly.
