John Stanley Woytach, 94, of Dupont, died Wednesday morning at his home. His widow is the former Irene Drause. The couple celebrated their 70th anniversary on Sept. 16.

Born in Minooka, son of the late Leopold and Martha Woytach, he attended Minooka schools. He was employed by McKinney Products, Scranton, and was also a small engine repairman.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, VFW Post 4909, the Polish American Citizens Club and the Elm Street Sportsmen's Club, all of Dupont. He was a United States Army World War II veteran having served in the European Theater. While there he participated in the Battle of the Bulge and the liberation of the Buchenwald Concentration Camp and earned five bronze battle stars.

He had a great love for his family and was an avid gardener, fisherman, mushroom picker and devoted Steelers fan.

Also surviving are daughters, Helen Peitzman and husband, Hal, Pittsburgh; and Maryanne Schanbacher, Clarks Summit; sons, Michael and wife, Martha, Dupont; and John Peter and wife, Denise, Duryea; grandchildren, Melissa, Cindy, Michael, Devin, Eric, Jared, Jennifer and Jonathan; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ronald Schanbacher; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Lokuta-Zawacki Funeral Home, 200 Wyoming Ave., Dupont, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Sacred Heart Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont, to be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas J. Petro, pastor. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
