Donald Henry Schroeder

Donald Henry Schroeder passed away gently into the arms of his Savior on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the Nelson County Care Center in McVille, ND.

Don was born July 18, 1936 in Glasgow, MT to parents Henry and Charlotte (Broszeit) Schroeder. Don graduated from Pembina High School in 1954. He did various odd jobs before attending North Dakota State School of Science from 1956 - 1958. He received a disability scholarship and graduated with a degree in Communications. He worked 42 years at KXJB TV as a Sound Engineer.

On September 17, 1965 he married Shirley Gallagher at Pingree Lutheran Church, Pingree, ND. They resided in ND, living in Portland, Galesburg, Harwood, and McVille. Don had many hobbies. He was a Ham Radio Operator (call letters K0FUP). He was the proud owner of a 1932 International truck that had belonged to his father. Don enjoyed restoring the truck and drove it in many parades. He was very involved with steam threshing activities at WMSTR (Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion) and Stump Lake, which was a family tradition to participate in every Labor Day weekend.

Don and Shirley joined the Gideons International in 1983. Don faithfully worked with the organizational camps in West Fargo, ND and later in Cooperstown, ND, distributing Bibles to local area hotels, schools, and universities. He was an active member in church and in choir.

Don is survived by his loving wife Shirley, McVille, three children Mary (Kenneth) Quanbeck, McVille, David (Jennifer) Schroeder, Langdon, Karen (Brent) Lougheed, Fargo, grandchildren Scott (Ellen), Jacob (fiancée, Taylor Donohue), and Meghan Quanbeck; Justin, Wesley, and Josie Schroeder; Christopher and Anne Lougheed.
