Jessie Marion Ashley, passed away on November 12, 2020, in Duncan at the age of 90.

Jessie was born on February 25, 1930, in Panki Bok, Oklahoma to Johnny Marion Ashley and Frances Elizabeth (Staggs) Ashley. He was a minister in the various Assembly of God Churches for more than 57 years. He took great pride in knowing that he was led by the Lord to serve and had even gone as far as teaching himself to read his own Bible.

He was a man of many hats, able to do anything that he put his mind to. Jessie could always be found with people gathered around to listen to his stories as well as jokes and would always find a way to make everyone laugh. Telling stories was his specialty, especially to the grandchildren, even though they might not always believe his stories, he would always find away to make them believe. Jessie loved to sing, one of his favorites being "A Hole in the Bottom of the Sea." He enjoyed hunting in his younger years, squirrel and duck hunting being among his favorites. Jessie was loved dearly and will be missed tremendously, as he loved his family greatly.

Jessie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 67 years, Thelma Ashley; a grandson, David Elroy; son-in-law, Tom Elroy; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Ashley; and two sisters: Johnie Rean Archibald and Frances Chandler.

He is survived by seven children: Marolyn Bridges and husband Farrell of Marlow; Suzie Elroy of Marlow, Rick Ashley and wife Johnnie Ruth of Frisco, Texas; Denise Drake and husband Wayne of Bartlesville; John Ashley and wife Suzanne of Amarillo, Texas; Steve Ashley of Nashville, Arkansas; Tom Ashley and wife Miriam of Pryor; sixteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Freida Litchford; Billie Faye Evans; and Mary Litchford; as well as one brother, Dennis Chandler.
