Elton Williams, 80, of Stanton, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 16, 2020 at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel.

He was born April 18, 1940 in Jones County and married Becky Matthies January 12, 1983 in Abilene.

Elton graduated from Eastland High School and served in the United States Army in Washington State.

He was a longtime musician playing the guitar and bass guitar. He wrote the song, "Green Snakes On The Ceiling" which was recorded by Johnny Bush, and his band, Elton Williams and the Pride of Texas Band, recorded an album titled "As Long As I Live".

Survivors include his wife, Becky Williams; four daughters, Tracey Rakowitz, Amanda Mobley, Julie Rich and Debbie Gilbert; and one son, James Hill; and three sisters, Kedron Franklin, Joyce Thompson and Eloise Woods.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Colleen Williams; a grandson, Brad Rich; and a brother, Charles Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Issac Letkeman, Hugh Brian Schafer, Bryan Creech, Rodney Oaks, Will Mobley, Wesley Hill and Gaige Hill.

The family suggests memorials to the Martin County Senior Center, P. O. Box 1233, Stanton, Texas 79782.
